WHAT: Opening ceremony for Viva Dallas! Consumer, Health, Green Expo and Job Fair

WHERE: Dallas Market Hall (Main Stage)
WHO: State Representative Roberto Alonzo; Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Pauline Medrano; Rick Ortiz, Chairman of the Board of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Pat Gorman, Chair of the Regional Hispanic Contractors Association and other elected officials and community and business leaders.
WHY: More than 30,000 Dallas area Hispanics are expected to attend the 2009 Viva Dallas Consumer, Health, Green Expo and Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at Dallas Market Hall. Admission to the expo is Free and information will be available in English and Spanish. Viva Dallas is presented by Chase, the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Regional Hispanic Contractors Association. This year, visitors will be able to get health screenings, mammograms; measure their glucose level; learn about exercise; and vaccinate their children in the Health and Wellness Pavilion, sponsored by Aflac. In the Going Green Pavilion, sponsored by the Regional Contractors Association, expo visitors will learn tips to make their homes more energy efficient and ways to help the environment. Representatives from school districts and community organizations will be on hand at the Education Pavilion, sponsored by The University of Texas at Arlington, to show students and their parents how to be successful in school and how they can attend college. The new addition to the expo is the Job Fair and Networking Pavilion sponsored by Aflac which will provide those seeking employment or a new job with a relaxed atmosphere to meet with corporate recruiters, explore a variety of job opportunities, and receive input from experienced corporate human resources professionals about their résumés.
The stage entertainment is being presented by Univision Radio. The performances will include a variety of Latin dance, music and special presentations.
