January 16, 2009 (DALLAS, TX) -- The Dallas White Rock Marathon (DWRM) today provided runners with a little incentive to stick with their New Year’s Eve fitness resolutions: the first ever Rock To Victory Spring Half-Marathon, set for March 15th, 2009.
“For the last several years, we’ve seen a tremendous up-tick in registration for the half-marathon during our December race,” said Chuck Dannis, president of the Dallas White Rock Marathon. ”It seemed like a natural progression for us to add the Rock to Victory to our race portfolio. We intend to grow this race into a signature, world-class half marathon over the next several years.”
The Rock to Victory will follow the same course as the December Dallas White Rock Marathon half-marathon course, which starts at the American Airlines Center at Victory Park, loops through Turtle Creek and the Park Cities, and finishes on the Katy Trail.
“In 2008, we added the Katy Trail to our half-marathon course and sold out more quickly than ever before,” said Marcus Grunewald, executive race director for the Dallas White Rock Marathon. “We anticipate that runners in Dallas and beyond will be excited about this new half marathon, so we expect the Rock to Victory to sell out quickly, as well.”
Participation in this year’s Rock to Victory will be capped at 4,000 participants. Registration will open the week of January 19, 2009 on the DWRM website, www.runtherock.com.
Runners who participated in December’s Dallas White Rock Marathon will receive an email link inviting them to sign up before registration opens to the general public.
