The theme is "Celebrating Texas Agriculture."
Start at the Livestock 101 stage, a new initiative at the State Fair this year that ties in the fair's annual theme with daily presentations from resident livestock experts. Learn all about the cattle, pigs and other animals on display each day and there's even a Guided Livestock Tour to get a closer look! Livestock 101 will take place daily each morning, giving you plenty of opportunities to check it once (or twice!) There's also a variety of competitive livestock events to attend, so you'll just have to figure out which you want to check out first.
The Budweiser Clydesdales are back.
It's been 11 years since the Clydesdales made their last appearance at the State Fair and we know we're not the only ones that missed them. Don't miss a visit to The Budweiser Clydesdales Stable Display to see the majestic horses up close and learn about their history. Don't leave without petting Clyde the Dalmatian, the Clydesdales mascot and stable mate.
Taylor Swift is making an appearance (sort of.)
This is one the ultimate Taylor Swift fan can't miss. Head to the Taylor Swift ExperienceTM and walk through a timeline of the life of the pop princess. See some of her most memorable performance costumes, tour photos and instruments, including the light blue gown she wore at the 50th ACM Awards at AT&T Stadium last year!
Music goes really well with the State Fair.
What's better than a day at the fair followed by a great live music session? Kacey Musgraves, Jazmine Sullivan and AB Quintanilla are all must-see acts on the Chevrolet Main Stage and others scheduled to perform include Cody Johnson, Chris Perez Project, LE Freak, La Energía Norteña and Nelly! Check the schedule for your favorites and don't forget – all performances are free!
See basketball in a whole new way.
Straight from Budapest, Hungary comes the Lords of Gravity Basketball Slam Dunk Show, one of the most well known acrobatic basketball teams in Europe. Get in on the action with a spectacular show filled with hoop skills, jumps and dribbles that will leave you in awe.
Bring your sweet tooth.
It's not the fair without the Big Tex Choice Awards. This year the winners were Best Taste: Fried Jell-O, a classic cherry flavored Jell-O in a panko-crusted breading and Most Creative: State Fair Cookies Fries, a unique play on crinkle-cut fries that are chocolate and sprinkles cookies. Find these two award winning treats throughout the fair grounds, along with a whole slew of other delicious fried concoctions.
