When art takes an unexpected twist

Everything you need to know about the Dallas Museum of Art's new Off the Wall event series

Posted on Oct 11, 2016

What is it?
Off the Wall is where art and pop culture meet to form a masterpiece. Themed monthly evenings take an unexpected look at the Museum's collection through lively activities and entertainment. Kick off the night with a pop, twist, and clink with a specially curated concoction, glass of vino, or cold brew. From crafts and gallery tours, to cocktails and quizzes, to discos and DJs, it's a brand new way to experience the DMA!

What can I do there?
The first night's theme will put stars in your eyes. Off the Wall will boldly go where no museum has gone before with Space Oddity, an exploration of space and astrology in the arts. Blast through the galleries using zodiac signs as your guide, sip on cosmic cocktails while gazing at Robert Rauschenberg's Skyway, groove to David "Starman" Bowie's hits all night long, or head to the dance floor on the Eagle Family Plaza for a 60s disco dance party. See the stellar full schedule.

I'm in! When is it?
Off the Wall kicks off Thursday, October 13 at 5:00 p.m. so head over to the Dallas Museum of Art after you wrap up at the office or school. Tickets are just $10 – the price of 3 coffees! It's perfect for a date night or to bring your besties.

I can't make this one. Am I out of luck?
Head to the DMA every second Thursday of the month from 5:00-9:00 p.m. for the art history class you always dreamed of. On November 10, Gogh Your Own Way with DMA curator Nicky Myers, and on December 8, bundle up because Winter is Coming.
