Get on the dancefloor in the heart of Dallas' LGBT community
Posted on Dec 22, 2016
Whether you're a Dallas native or you're experiencing our beautiful city for the first time, there's one thing that should be part of your skill set: country-western dancing. So why not put that at the top of your New Year's Resolutions list come January?
Or better yet, get a head start now with free dance lessons at The Round-Up Saloon & Dance Hall on Cedar Springs Road. Consistently voted one of the top gay bars in the city, United States and the world, this icon of the local LGBT community welcomes anyone and everyone with open arms.
Just be prepared to do a little boot scootin' once you get there.
Each week, the lovely and talented Juanita Bernal teaches basic moves to anyone who wants to do-si-do and twirl around the dance floor. Not only is she patient, but she has a knack for getting everyone in sync and whisking their partners around like something straight out of a Blake Shelton music video.
Every student learns can't-miss couples dance moves like the shuffle, two-step and the basic shadow, as well as line dancing skills ranging from the Rhythm Cowboy to the Honky Tonk Twist.
There are few ways to spend an hour that are more fun or socially rewarding, so pull on a pair of cowboy boots and head to The Round-Up most Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. for a date with the one and only Juanita.
She'll make you a true Texan in no time.
