5 Spring-Loving Patios in Oak Lawn

Say cheers to Spring enjoying the sunshine on one of these five great Dallas patios.

The weather is getting warmer and we've gathered up some of Oak Lawn's best locations to grab a pint on a patio. While Dallas certainly has hundreds of incredible patio locations, these ones are a great place to start.

1. Cedar Springs Tap House

Located in the heart of Dallas' gayborhood, the Cedar Springs Tap House is a traditional American bar not only offers a great patio for drinks, but also specials on drinks AND food throughout the week. If their impressive selection of beers and burgers isn't enough, you can top it off with their daily homemade cake selection. Thursday night is always Cher-E-oke(like karaoke but dedicated to her Cher because who else matters,) and weekend mornings are reserved for hangover brunch. *Hangover not required.

2. The Katy Trail Ice House

Go outside of the typical neighborhood bar for a trail-side experience at The Katy Trail Ice House. Home to a spacious outdoor beer garden that takes patio to the next level, The Katy Trail Ice House has more than 50 beers on tap and a food menu to satisfy any craving. The authentic Texas BBQ is on the menu Thursday through Sunday, but get there early because it goes fast! The Ice House is located on right on The Katy Trail, so there's no reason to say no to a second margarita if your promise yourself to jog it off afterwards! (We won't tell anyone that you "forgot" your running shoes.)

3. JR's Bar and Grill

If one patio isn't enough, JR's Bar and Grill has two! The upstairs balcony offers close access to the second-floor bar and a great view of the Cedar Springs strip. Stop by for happy hour specials in additional to their American Grill menu. You and your friends can play a round of pool in the afternoon or dance the night away until 2 a.m.

4. The Grapevine Bar

Some have called The Grapevine Bar, "the best dive bar in the neighborhood." We'll call it a unique mix of indoor-outdoor space with something for anyone. Head up to the rooftop patio to enjoy their full selection of brews and cocktails, and look below for the action on their basketball court. Yes. Basketball court. So bring your best layup or just hang out in this casual spot to enjoy the fresh air.

5. Round Up Saloon

If you're looking for a true country experience, Round Up Saloon is your place. This cowboy gay bar offers six different bar options, each with its own unique twist. Their rooftop patio is a great place to kick back after a few rounds of two-stepping on their dance floor. They even offer dance lessons so you can show up to impress the next time your friends want to go dancing. *Cowboy hat optional.
