The Lowdown On Where to Head Out on Dallas Nights

Dallas has a slew of bars, lounges and clubs where denizens of the night meet, mingle and party. It's one of Big D's defining attributes. Where can you join in the revelry? Well, Dallas has a number of entertainment hubs, but these neighborhoods in particular are known for a hip and happening restaurant and nightclub scene.


Deep Ellum

The Scoop: In the 1920s, Deep Ellum was the Southwest's hub for blues and African-American art and culture. Today, its off-beat bars reverberate with that same bluesy vibe, doling out live music and cold drinks nightly.
The Scene: This neighborhood attracts a vibrant and diverse set of locals and outsiders who come to see and be seen in the city's most famous nightlife neighborhood.
Find It: Deep Ellum is named after its focal point - Elm Street (spelled with a Southern drawl) - and is located northeast of downtown on the opposite side of U.S. Hwy. 75.

Greenville Avenue

The Scoop: Dallas is a city that knows its trends, and nowhere is that more evident than Greenville Avenue. This neighborhood's restaurants are all about cutting-edge eats, often melding different culinary styles into new genres of cuisine.
The Scene: In addition to restaurants, bars, nightclubs and a lively cafe scene draw an avid set of regulars on Friday and Saturday nights.
Find It: Greenville Avenue is located in northeast Dallas. Head for the area that spans from Ross Avenue to Mockingbird Lane.

Knox-Henderson

The Scoop: This district is named after a street that changes names as it crosses an expressway. The Knox side of the street is known for savvy shopping and a charming set of restaurants. The Henderson side is usually where the party's at, with fab nightclubs and trend-setting bistros.
The Scene: Just follow the fashionistas through this bustling area as they head for their favorite sushi restaurant, Latin cafe or bar.
Find It: Knox-Henderson is north of downtown where the North Central Expressway crosses Knox Street/Henderson Avenue.

West Village

The Scoop: This upscale development of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants has become one of Dallas' most popular hangouts.
The Scene: You'll see friends catching up with each other over a late-night latte or celebrating a special occasion over a bottle of vino. With everything from wine bars to burger joints, the options are boundless.
Find It: The West Village is located near the end of the McKinney Avenue Trolley line and fills the area between Blackburn Street and Lemmon Avenue.

The Scoop: With a collection of renovated historic buildings the West End is Dallas' shining example of urban renaissance.
The Scene: Nightlife seekers head to the West End in packs, looking for a lively place to have dinner and knock back a few cold ones in the process.
Find It: This historic district covers 55 acres in western downtown between Woodall Rogers Freeway and Elm Street.
