Outdoors & Sports

Addicted to sports? Dallas is the town for you. Whether you prefer leaving the games to the professionals or engaging in some outdoor activities of your own; sports venues, teams and bars thrive all throughout the city.

Time Out

When the weather starts getting cooler that can only mean one thing; football season! It also means it’s a great chance to enjoy the great outdoors at a number of Dallas parks.

If you want

... and have half a day

... one day

... two or more days

... to get out

Whether it’s Pop Warner, professional or anything in between, it’s no secret that Texans love their football! And area schools like TCU (2011 Rose Bowl Champions), UNT and SMU take collegiate play to a whole new level. So whether you’re cheerin’ on the Horned Frogs, the Eagles or the Mustangs, it’s game time!

If you prefer some rink action, check out the Dallas Stars. They along with the 2011 NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks, share the American Airlines Center located in Victory Park. Make a day of it by grabbing a pre- or post- bite to eat at Hard Rock Cafe or Kenichi.

For a change of scenery, head south of downtown to Cedar Ridge Preserve. Embrace nature at this natural habitat of 600 acres that features native plant species, butterfly gardens, insects, reptiles and more. Go for a hike on one of the many trails or find a nice spot for a relaxing outdoor picnic.
