This year marks the 40th anniversary of the iconic DALLAS TV series and VisitDallas celebrated with legendary cast members Linda Gray (Sue Ellen Ewing), Patrick Duffy (Bobby Ewing), Charlene Tilton (Lucy Ewing) and Steve Kanaly (Ray Krebbs) March 30-31. The weekend of events was a huge success with more than 1,300 guests gathered in Dallas to commemorate one of the most popular TV shows in American pop culture history. Media outcomes have been strong, the highlight being a full feature on Good Morning America.
Last week VisitDallas welcomed freelance journalist Hannah Summers. Hannah's visit to Dallas was part of a larger Texas visit for an article in the UK's Daily Mail. During her visit, Hannah toured AT&T Stadium and got a glimpse of the city's various neighborhoods including Deep Ellum, Lower Greenville, Bishop Arts and the Arts District.
Guido Meyer and Peter Kuttler
VisitDallas hosted German broadcast journalists Guido Meyer and Peter Kuttler in mid-March. The pair were in Dallas to cover the Dallas television series ahead of the 40th anniversary, as well as visit top tourist attractions in the city. Stops in their itinerary included a day at Southfork Ranch and visiting other filming locations of the television show, the Dallas Arts District and the Sixth Floor Museum.
VisitDallas welcomed Canadian radio station Zoomer Radio's morning program, The Happy Gang. The team broadcast live for a week in Dallas, Arlington and Fort Worth. During their time in Dallas, the Zoomer team visited and interviewed various local representatives in the travel and tourism industry including representatives from the Sixth Floor Museum, Dallas Arts District, Reunion Tower, Chef Stephan Pyles and American Idol alum Jason Castro of the Castro band, among others.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the DALLAS television series, VisitDallas hosted more than 10 journalists from all around the world in our international key markets. During their stay, they were able to celebrate the DALLAS series with legendary cast members, and yet experience all the modern vibrancy Dallas has to offer travelers. The itinerary took them to Southfork Ranch, as well as the Arts District, Downtown, Deep Ellum and Bishop Arts – showcasing both our unique heritage and our thriving metropolitan city.
NYC Media Mission
The VisitDallas PR team conducted a media mission with Phillip Jones to pitch summer travel to Dallas to major national publications and influencers. The event included an influencer event, deskside appointments and a traditional media dinner. Outlets included Conde Nast Traveler, New York Times, Fodors Travel, Martha Stewart Magazine and Food Network Magazine, among others.
