Overview

The J. Erik Jonsson Central Library is one of the largest public libraries in the country. With eight public service floors, it holds a variety of treasures to explore. Dallas Public Library has one of the largest circulating collections, but our libraries are much more than books. The library is packed with permanent and temporary exhibits that you won't want to miss. View an original broadside copy of the Declaration of Independence and Shakespeare's First Folio, both on permanent display. Check out the rotating exhibits in the Lillian Bradshaw Gallery. View artwork, including a screen by Harry Bertoia, a music stand designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and paintings by Chagall and Picasso. Stop and smell the flowers in the pollinator garden and learn about Texas native plants. The library also offers programs and events on a daily basis. Stop in for story time, to play a game in the board game room or to meet the Dallas Poet Laurate. Library entry, events and exhibits are all free for everyone and available any time the library is open.
