Fans of the Amy Poehler-starring Parks and Recreation sitcom followed the exploits of Leslie Knope throughout its seven-season run. But little did anyone know that a season two episode that aired on February 11, 2010 would turn a simple play on words into a national phenomenon. Titled “Galentine’s Day,” the 21-minute story featured Knope and her female friends celebrating a day empowering women and encouraging them to support one another.

Though Galentine’s Day officially falls on February 13, like most holidays, it can be observed at any time! This year, Dallas staples are rolling out the pink carpet for girl-powered get-togethers.
