Crossing Lines: Contemporary Voices From Zimbabwe and South Africa
DHV Artworks, in collaboration with Indibano Art Residency, proudly presents Crossing Lines: Contemporary Voices from Zimbabwe & South Africa, on view November 8–22, 2025 at DHV Artworks, 2835 Irving Blvd in the Dallas Design District.
Featuring three rising artists — Lloyd Maluleke, Nothando Chiwanga, and Pardon Mapondera — Crossing Lines explores how movement, memory, and material converge in contemporary practice. Through painting, assemblage, photography, and performance, the exhibition reveals how borders—whether geographic, cultural, or personal—become powerful sites of tension and transformation.
Maluleke, a Johannesburg-based printer and visual artist, examines identity and human experience. Chiwanga, a multidisciplinary artist from Zimbabwe, centers the Black female body, travel, and the politics of movement. Mapondera transforms found materials into evocative assemblages; his recent solo exhibition at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe confirmed his rising prominence.
The exhibition features 5–6 major works by each artist, alongside the Creative Block Program, showcasing 88 small-scale works by South African artists.
