Dallas Event Highlights Sound Sensitivities
The Misophonia Association is hosting its 12th annual convention, October 23–25, in Dallas, Texas, to provide support, research, and awareness for a disorder that is still being actively studied. Misophonia affects an estimated 5–20 percent of people worldwide.
According to the Misophonia Research Fund, misophonia is a “disorder of decreased tolerance to specific sounds or stimuli associated with such sounds.” For those living with the condition—where everyday sounds like chewing, breathing, or tapping can trigger intense fight-or-flight reactions—the result is often years of confusion, shame, and isolation.
The Misophonia Association’s annual convention has become one of the best resources for individuals living with misophonia, as well as their families, therapists, audiologists, and others who support them. Sessions are tailored for adults, youth, parents, and partners.
The convention begins October 23 with an evening gathering at the Embassy Suites near Dallas Love Field. October 24–25 will feature full days of experiential sessions, discussion groups, and lectures from leading experts. Event fees help cover part of the convention's cost.
