10 Things to do in June

Summer is near, so it's time to start planning your Dallas getaway.

Whether it's seeing a concert, attending a festival or sending the kids off to summer camp, Dallas has plans to keep everyone entertained

1. Don't miss MegaFest

Get tickets to attend this year's MegaFest, happening June 28-July 1 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, with a free kick-off event at Klyde Warren Park. It's the nation's largest faith, film and family multi-day festival, and there's something for everyone. Enjoy empowerment sessions and speakers, a comedy show, kids' events and so much more. 2. Experience the Taste of Dallas

Enjoy the ultimate three-day foodie festival at the Taste of Dallas in Fair Park starting June 9. Taste delicious bites from more than 60 of Dallas' best restaurants, including Tex-Mex, Asian and barbecue treats. This year will feature two new events with "The Foodie Experience" and "Live Fire," as well as a family zone for the little ones.

3. Take the kids to Summer Camp

School's is out, so keep the kids entertained with a summer camp of their choice. Go for the discovery camps at the Perot Musuem of Nature and Science that start on June 12, outdoor adventure camps at the Trinity River Audubon Center that start June 19, or WILD adventure camps at the Dallas Zoo

4. Check out a Summer Concert

The Starplex has some impressive acts on the lineup, including Florida Georgia Line on June 3, Chicago & the Doobie Brothers on June 16 and Future on June 24. Or see Enrique Iglesias & Pitbull put on an epic show at the American Airlines Center on June 16.

5. See the Dallas Wings play

The Dallas Wings' season is underway and if you haven't seen a game yet, you should! The WNBA team recently relocated to the area and they are exciting to watch. The next game is June 6 and their season runs through September.

6. Explore the Farmer's Market

Spend some time at the Dallas Farmer's Market to buy all the fresh goods and produce you need and stop for lunch inside The Market any day of the week. First Friday is June 2 from 6-9 p.m., so check out local merchants, have a beer and enjoy live music. This month's Friday night movies series on June 16 will show Hidden Figures. It's free – so come out and enjoy the show!

7. See a Broadway Show

Catch the latest Broadway show this season, with Something Rotten, a comedy about two brothers desperate to write a hit play. This one runs from June 13-25 at the Winspear Opera House.

8. Enjoy Summer at the Arboretum

Head to the Dallas Arboretum for Summer at the Arboretum, starting June 2 with tons of activities for the whole family. Family Fun Fridays goes on all month long and will feature a petting zoo, face painting and live music. On Father's Day weekend (June 17-18) the Arboretum will host Barbecue, Brews and Ques on the green, followed by the African Music Fest with an African drum and dance ensemble on June 24-25.

9. Enjoy Free Programming at the Nasher

The Nasher Sculpture Center will host First Saturdays starting June 3, with free admission and family-fun activities like art projects, scavenger hunts and yoga in the garden. Or go for a movie at 'til Midnight at the Nasher on June 16. The evening will include a concert and a screening of "La La Land" with food and drinks available to purchase.

10. Go off the Wall at the DMA

The Dallas Museum of Art begins its latest Off the Wall series on June 8 and it offers a unique pop culture twist on the museum's collection of art. The first event, Make it Work!, will feature a night that's all about fashion with a photo booth, the history behind fashion trends and a catwalk to end the night. Admission is $5, so get your tickets and don't miss the show!
