Dallas continues to be a red-hot travel destination for people from all over the world. A recent analysis by SCRUFF, a gay chat, dating and social networking app, puts Dallas in the top 10 for best places for LGBT people to travel this summer. So no matter who you are or who you love, if you are planning on visiting Dallas this summer, here are some must-see, must-taste, must-do experiences to make the most of your vacation.
Where to Stay
A pool is essential for relaxing and keeping your cool, so make sure to choose an LGBT-friendly hotel with a fabulous underwater scene. Top options in the boutique-stay category include Hotel Zaza, The Joule Hotel, and The Highland Dallas.
However if you're looking for a much bigger experience, check out the Hilton Anatole, with its recently opened Jade Waters resort-style pool and water park, complete with an adults-only swim-up bar.
What to Eat
Dallas is a top dining destination in the United States and home to hundreds of stellar restaurants. Knox-Henderson, Lower Greenville, Trinity Groves and the Bishop Arts District are just a few of the best districts for dining.
If you're looking for an LGBT-owned restaurant for a night of culinary adventure, then look no further. For a fine dining experience, try Salum or Flora Street Cafe. Both restaurants offer equally decadent ambience and entrees.
When the morning comes and you're in need of a good breakfast, call on Zephyr Bakery Cafe for great coffee, breakfast and sandwiches.
How to Play
Dallas' infamous "gayborhood" sits at the intersection of Cedar Springs Road and Oak Lawn Avenue, the city's main LGBT entertainment district. This small strip offers big selections in shopping, bars, nightlife and entertainment. If you're in the mood to spice up your wardrobe, stop by Skivvies, Outlines, or Out of the Closet Thrift Store.
Cedar Springs also has a nightclub for every taste. If you want a true country feel, go to Round-Up Saloon. For a dance club vibe complete with drag shows, check out Station 4 and The Rose Room. If you're looking for a relaxed vibe with pool tables and outdoor space, try JR's Bar & Grill, Sue Ellen's, Alexandre's, or Woody's. And don't forget TMC, the best place to watch dancers on stage to inspire your own moves.
