2017 State Fair of Texas: How to Save at the Gate

The more you save on admission to the State Fair of Texas, the more Fletcher's Corny Dogs you can buy!

If you're anything like us, we are counting down the days, (or even hours at this point) until Opening Day of the State Fair of Texas on September 29. And if there is one thing better than the State Fair of Texas, it's saving money when going to the State Fair of Texas. 

 

Throughout the fair (Sept. 29-Oct. 22)

Ride DART and save. 
Thanks to the convenience of the nearby Fair Park Station, getting to and inside the State Fair is a breeze. Buy your discounted tickets to the fair right on your DART GoPASS app. Admission tickets are just $16 and $12 for child/senior tickets ($2 savings compared to purchasing at the gate).

Save on tickets while running errands.  
Kroger offers advance purchase general admission tickets for just $16.50 ($1.50 savings) and season passes for $34.95 (a $5 savings!)

Make it a Dr. Pepper night.  
Bring an empty Dr. Pepper can after 5 p.m. any day and admission is half price. One can per person. Discount may not be combined with any other offers. 

Find your discount with your lunch. 
Before you recycle your McDonald's leftovers, check the tray liner or to-go bag for a $5 off general admission coupon. The coupon can also be used for half price off a child ticket with purchase of a general admission ticket. One coupon per person. Discount may not be combined with any other offers. 

 

Day Specific Discounts

Opening Day (Sept. 29)

It's Military Appreciation Day at the fair! All active military, retired military and veterans receive FREE admission when they present valid documentation of military service at the gate. Spouses of service men and women with a valid Military Spouse ID and accompanying children under the age of 18 also receive FREE admission, courtesy of in partnership with Texas Lottery Commission.

Bring a full 20 oz. bottle of Dasani water (or any 20 oz. Coca-Cola product) for donation to the North Texas Food Bank to the State Fair gates and get a coupon for only $10 on Opening DayOne donation per person. Discount may not be combined with any other offers. 

 

First Responders Day (Oct. 13):

The fair will offer FREE admission to all active and retired public law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics and other emergency services agencies to honor their contribution to the community. All first responders will need to present a valid badge or ID card from their department or organization to the gate, and they'll also receive up to three admission tickets for family members!

 

Tuesdays (Oct. 3, 10 and 17):

Bring an empty Dr Pepper can and receive a coupon for a $6 admission ticket to the State Fair. One can per person. Discount may not be combined with any other offers. 

Head to the Midway and save – most rides are reduced price on Tuesdays, giving you more reason to stick around the fair longer. Midway discounts exclude the Thrillway and the Texas Star. 

 

Wednesdays (Oct. 4, 11 and 18):

Bring four cans of food for donation to the North Texas Food Bank to State Fair gates and receive a coupon for a $4 admission ticketOne (4 can) donation per person. Discount may not be combined with any other offers. 

 

Thursdays (Oct. 5, 12 and 19):

Senior citizens 60 years and better get into the Fair FREE every ThursdayDiscount may not be combined with any other offers. 

Bring an empty 20 oz. bottle of a Coca-Cola product and receive a coupon for a $7 admission ticket to the State Fair. One bottle per person. Discount may not be combined with any other offers. 

Thursdays are all about being thrifty! Most items, including the popular cotton candy and funnel cakes, are between two and seven coupons, saving almost half the cost on most items.
