'Tis the season to get out and experience Dallas for the holidays, and while we may not always get a white Christmas, Dallas always puts on a bright and action-packed holiday season. Whatever level of fun and festivities you and your little elves are looking for this year, Dallas has you thoroughly covered.
Holiday exhibits and light displays
Get into the holiday spirit and check off your gift list at the same time! Bring the family to NorthPark Center to check out the Trains at NorthPark, the most elaborate miniature toy trains exhibit in Texas featuring more than 630 trains rolling across 1,600 feet of track on a journey across America.

Experience the Dallas Zoo as it transforms into a winter wonderland at Dallas Zoo Lights! With more than one million twinkling lights illuminating the zoo and tons of festive activities, it is guaranteed to make for a fun night out for all ages throughout the holiday season. All the Dallas Zoo Lights fun is included with your general admission ticket and free for members.

Not that anyone needs another reason to visit the beautiful grounds of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, but for this holiday season, the Arboretum is presenting Holiday at the Arboretum, featuring the 12 Days of Christmas at Night display and your family will surely enjoy it. Featuring elaborate recreations of the beloved carol in 25-foot-tall gazebos, kids will love the enchanting displays and parents will enjoy taking a trip down memory lane in the gorgeous outdoor botanical environment. And new this year is the Christmas Village, comprised of 12 charming shops and facades that represent a quaint European hamlet. Children and adults will enjoy exploring these themed houses and holiday businesses, including a bakery, candy shop, Santa's house and more!

Shows and performances
Take the kiddos to the Dallas Children's Theater to see their favorite stories brought to life in The Very Hungry Caterpillar Christmas Show. Enjoy "Brown Bear, Brown Bear," "What Do You See?" "10 Little Rubber Ducks," "Dream Snow" and a reprisal of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" filled with colorful puppets, adorable animals and more.

Older kids will love Little Women: The Musical, performed by the Dallas Children's Theater Academy's all teen cast! Suggested for ages 9 and up, the show celebrates life, love, and family in this festive musical adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's cherished novel set against the backdrop of the American Civil War. Embrace the spirit of the holiday season through a story that has captured the hearts of readers for more than 150 years.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer is a beloved holiday classic for many families. Instead of settling for watching it onscreen, see it come to life onstage in the musical at the Majestic Theatre. Don't miss this wonderful holiday tradition that will be fun for the entire family!

Meet ol' St. Nick
Don't forget about Mrs. Claus! Enjoy Storytime with Mrs. Claus at the Galleria Dallas. While you're there, take a spin on the ice rink and take a family photo with the country's largest indoor Christmas tree!

Visit the Dallas Farmers Market with the kids to meet Santa and get some last minute gift shopping in. Stroll through the Shed for fresh baked cookies, tamales, unique finds and more.
