The University of North Texas (UNT) is the flagship school of the University of North Texas system. The 4th largest university in Texas was founded in 1890 and began to compete in organized athletics by 1913. The athletic program has grown considerably since that time and now offers 12 competition sports in division 1 of the NCAA including the football team who competes in the highest subdivision of college football, the Football Bowl Subdivision. UNT's athletic facilities are first class and include a football and track stadium, a tennis complex, a softball stadium, a basketball arena, a soccer stadium, two swimming complexes, a practice facility, and an athletic training center.
