Tourism - Executive Update
- The Tourism team attended IPW 2017 in Washington DC. IPW is the premier tradeshow to market US tourism product to international travel trade and media. In just three days, the team met one-on-one with more than 80 tour operators from our top 10 international markets. In addition, the team partnered with Texas Tourism and other regional CVBs to host a reception for over 300 tour operators and media.
- Tourism also joined the mayors of Dallas and Fort Worth and local business leaders led by DFW International Airport on a mission to Canada. The mission was an effort to promote commerce and tourism from Toronto and Montreal to DFW, as well as to support new air service between both regions. In this mission, the Tourism team met with almost 40 tour operators and travel agents, had one-on-one meetings with seven consumer travel journalists, and co-hosted a press conference attended by more than 25 Canadian media.
- Tourism also hosted Hills Balfour on a familiarization tour of Dallas. Hills Balfour is VisitDallas' new agency in the United Kingdom, our largest overseas market.
- The Moving Cities: Dallas photography exhibit launched at NorthPark Center in early June. It features photos taken during the production of the short film by the same name released last spring, which celebrates dance and movement set against the backdrop of Dallas and its cityscape. Dallas was the first U.S. city included in the series of films. On opening day of the exhibit, we were invited to extend the length of the exhibit through Labor Day. We encourage our partners to see Dallas from a new perspective and to visit the exhibit, located between the Louis Vuitton and Burberry stores at NorthPark Center.
