Tourism - Executive Update
June 2018


  • Tourism joined a delegation led by DFW International Airport and the mayors of Dallas and Fort Worth to London and Paris. The team hosted an evening event for close to 100 travel trade members in partnership with DFW International and Visit Fort Worth. The team also held product meetings with seven tour operators in London and trained 20 travel agents in partnership with tour operator Trailfinders. Tourism then headed to Amsterdam to host a luncheon and training event for American Airlines' top 15 clients in the Benelux region, and with American Airlines and British Airways sales force. The team concluded the trip in Paris with a luncheon for American Airlines' top 10 tour operators.
  • The Arts funding component of the Dallas TPID program is having a record year. For this fiscal year, we've had 88 applications, totaling over $1.6 million in approved funding. We are accepting applications for 2018-19 funding and have already worked with ten arts organizations for funding in next fiscal year. Since inception, the Arts funding from the DTPID totals over $5.9 million. 
  • Team Tourism hosted a Brand USA familiarization tour for key Japanese clients in June. 
  • In late June, Tourism staff traveled to the UK for a media mission, as well as hosted the annual VisitUSA Media Awards.
