Polka, pilsners and pretzels—these are a few of our favorite Oktoberfest things. From late September through early October, few things this side of the State Fair of Texas signal the arrival of fall more than the German celebration of Bavarian culture and beer. Lots and lots of beer. From a big citywide festival to smaller gatherings at breweries and other venues, here’s where to embrace the Oktoberfest spirit.
Oktoberfest Dallas
On Saturday, October 5, Flag Pole Hill north of White Rock Lake bids a hearty Wilkommen! to thousands of revelers eager to indulge in German-style beers and authentic foods from bratwurst to pretzels while listening to live music. A kids zone, keg tapping contest, stein holding competition and vendor market round out the packed schedule of activities from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.Pegasus City Brewery
Oak Highlands Brewery
Over three consecutive Saturdays (September 21, 28 and October 5), Oak Highlands Brewery brings Oktoberfest to life with a special Oktoberfest brew, stein-holding and hammer-schlagen contests, a Miss Oktoberfest pageant, dog races and live music to fulfill all your accordion cravings.
On Rotation Brewery & Kitchen
Join the fun for Oktoberfest Fest Fest, a four-day event from Thursday, September 19 through Sunday, September 22. On Rotation works tirelessly to tap as many Oktoberfest brews as possible (including their own house brew for the occasion), with live music and German food favorites completing the vibe.
Vrachtwagenpark
Lowest Greenville’s wildly popular outdoor bar and entertainment venue presents its annual Trukctoberfest on Saturday, September 14. From noon to midnight, German music from Off the Grid Band fills the air while patrons enjoy pretzel eating contests, a multiple chances to show off chicken dance skills, two stein hosting battles and a wiener dog race.
Dallas Arboretum
Though not specifically linked to any particular Oktoberfest tradition, Dallas Arboretum’s six new Pumpkins & Pints nights this September and October check off a lot of boxes. Beer? Indeed. Fantastic food? Absolutely. That special autumnal feeling? 100%! These 6-9 p.m. events are a wonderful (and rare) chance to experience the arboretum grounds in the evening, when it really starts to feel like fall.
German Restaurants in Dallas
Capture that Oktoberfest feeling any time of year at one of our top German eateries. Kuby’s Sausage House in Snider Plaza offers several varieties of sausages accompanied by classic pairings including sauerkraut and potato salad. Tucked away on a side street in East Dallas, Henk’s European Deli & Black Forest Bakery serves up breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch favorites, with specialties including Weiner Schnitzel and Bavarian Chicken, along with classic Cherry Black Forest cake from the bakery. And for the duration of September and October, Dog Haus brings customers a limited-time Oktoberwürst bratwurst on a King’s Hawaiian roll, an Oktoberwürst burrito, as well as signature Oktoberfest drinks
