Autumn at the Arboretum: Harvest Hues
Fall has arrived at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, and this year's Pumpkin Village is more colorful than ever. From September 19 through November 1, 2026, the Arboretum transforms its 66 acres along White Rock Lake into "Harvest Hues," a display that reimagines the work of modern and contemporary artists through more than 100,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash. Named one of the "Best Pumpkin Festivals in America" by Fodor's Travel, this Dallas fall tradition is not to be missed.
Six Pumpkin Houses, Six Artistic Icons
This year, Pumpkin Village reimagines six of modern and contemporary art's most recognizable names, each brought to life in pumpkins, gourds, and squash. Guests can walk through Pumpkin Houses inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mark Rothko, Louise Bourgeois, Piet Mondrian, M.C. Escher, and Pollock and Krasner. Each house translates a distinct artistic style, from Rothko's color-block canvases to Escher's mind-bending geometry, into a larger-than-life seasonal display that's as photogenic as it is playful.
Pumpkin Village is sponsored by Oncor, and the display is refreshed throughout the season, so pumpkins picked early in the run may look a little different than those closer to Halloween.
Hours, Dates & Admission
The Dallas Arboretum is open daily from 9am to 5pm and is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. "Autumn at the Arboretum: Harvest Hues" runs September 19 through November 1, 2026, with a Member Preview on September 18. Admission pricing varies by day of the week:
Monday–Thursday: Adults $21.95 | Children (ages 3–12) $17.95
Friday–Sunday: Adults $25.95 | Children (ages 3–12) $21.95
Members enjoy free admission year-round. Guests can also take advantage of the Museums for All program for $3 admission plus free parking. Parking is $15 per vehicle, and reserving timed tickets online in advance is strongly recommended, especially on fall weekends.
Rained out? The Arboretum's Rainy Day Guarantee lets guests use their confirmation email to reschedule a free return visit within the same calendar year.

Pumpkins and Pints
Fridays, October 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30, 2026 | 6-9pm
For an after-dark take on the season, Pumpkins and Pints returns to the Arboretum with craft beer, wine, and food trucks set against the glow of Pumpkin Village. Pumpkins and Pints is held on Fridays from 6 to 9pm. Check the Arboretum's event calendar for updates closer to the festival.
The Goth Garden Workshop
October 3, 2026 | 10am-12pm
Join Felicia Feaster, author of The Goth Garden: The Mystery, Beauty and Lore of Dark Gardening, to learn how to create dramatic, atmospheric garden spaces. The workshop concludes with a book signing. Attendees will get to take home a signed hardcover copy of Feaster's book and a starter plant.
Pumpkin & Squash Show and Sale
October 16-18, 2026 | 10am-3pm
Shop for rare pumpkins and heirloom squash at this weekend-long event where you can find unique ornamental specimens.
Pumpkins After Hours: A Sensory-Friendly Evening at the Dallas Arboretum

Enjoy a sensory-friendly evening during Autumn at the Arboretum. Throughout the evening guests will have exclusive access to the Pumpkin Village and there will be smaller crowds, quiet zones and engaging hands-on fall activities.
Where the Pumpkins Come From
Ever wonder how the Arboretum fills its gardens with more than 100,000 pumpkins every fall? They travel 327 miles from Pumpkin Pyle, a family-run farm in Floydada, Texas — a small Panhandle town officially known as the "Pumpkin Capital of the USA." Founded in 1991 by Jason Pyle, the farm has supplied the Arboretum's pumpkins, gourds, and squash for years, turning a Texas farming tradition into one of Dallas's most beloved fall attractions.
Tips for Planning Your Visit
Weekday mornings tend to be the quietest time to visit Pumpkin Village, and weekday admission is also less expensive than weekend pricing. Photographers will want to budget extra time at the six Pumpkin Houses, the Pecan Grove, and Red Maple Rill, where fall foliage peaks in late October. Families can round out the day at the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden (separate $3 ticket), and hungry guests can grab a bite at Café on the Green or A Tasteful Place's daily tastings. Buy tickets and parking directly through the Arboretum's official site to guarantee accurate pricing and avoid third-party resellers.
