Mark your calendars for Mother's Day on May 10. If there were ever a year to shower her with all the love and attention she deserves, it is this year. Dallas is blessed with countless restaurants to take Mom to for brunch, but we rounded up some other activities to pair with an afternoon of dining.
1. Relish a World of "Brunch-a-bilities"
What better way to celebrate than by treating your mom to a delicious brunch in Dallas? With so many fantastic options available, you're sure to find the perfect spot to show your appreciation. Make your way to a variety of exceptional restaurants and culinary options with one of the hardest-working loved ones in your life. Upcoming brunch events include delectable experiences at The Adolphus, The Mercury, and Asador. If you're looking for a bite later in the afternoon, we recommend the elegant tea experience at The French Room.
2. Journey Through a Heart-Pumping Run (or Walk) With Your Mom
Have an active mom who likes to start the day with a brisk run? If so, join the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center of Dallas on Mother's Day morning for their annual Bagel Run. Run, jog or walk through the scenic Hillcrest neighborhood in a timed 10k, 5k or Kids K run. A virtual option is also available for those who feel more comfortable running without a group. The family-friendly activity starts at 8:00 am.
Stop by Shug's Bagels after the race to replace all those carbs you just burned off. The uber-popular shop sells some of the best Bagel & Lox, cream cheese and bagel sandwiches in town. The Sunday morning line for bagels usually stretches down the block, so make sure you have some post-race snacks handy to hold you off until you get that piping-hot bagel.
3. Make Your Own Terrarium
If your mom is too picky to buy someone else's boho home accessories, bring her to Jade and Clover and let her make her own. This boutique gift shop sells plants, home decor, gifts, and jewelry. It also has a DIY terrarium shop for customers to make their own indoor gardening containers. Think Build-A-Bear, but with plants. Start by picking your plants, planter, sand and rocks, put it all together and viola – you have your own customized terrarium.
After working up an appetite, take Mom over to Vidorra in Deep Ellum for a brunch full of tacos and mimosas. Enjoy a green chili eggs benedict, cinnamon churro toast, or a Mexican egg casserole with chorizo called cazuela de brunch on the rooftop patio that overlooks the Dallas skyline.
4. Plan a Scenic Picnic
If you do not want to make reservations and the weather is nice, pick up a gourmet foods prepared fresh at EatZi's or delicious chocolates from Olmo Market in Oak Cliff and then head to your favorite park, spread out a blanket and have a Mother's Day picnic.
