Here are some of the biggest events happening this weekend in Dallas.
Thurs., Dec. 12
Those fun crawl tubes usually reserved for children at the Neiman Marcus in downtown is open to adults this evening for Neiman Marcus Adult Night. The $20 event benefits Color Me Empowered, an organization that gets at-risk children involved with public art projects.
Fri., Dec. 13
Klyde Warren Park opens their ice rink today, made of an artificial polymer that doesn't melt. The rink's admission is free, with skate rentals at $5 on weekdays, $10 on weekends and Tuesdays completely free thanks to sponsorship from El Centro College. The rink will be open through Jan. 31, 2014.
Also in the Arts District tonight is the Reliant Lights Your Holiday at AT&T Performing Arts Center. The area will be illuminated with 250,000 dazzling LED lights and includes the Southwest Airlines Holiday Concert and Fireworks Spectacular featuring a live performance by country music star Jack Ingram. Getphotos with Santa, see animals from the Dallas Zoo and much more. Free admission, and festivities start at 5 p.m.
Sat., Dec. 14
Lots of toy drives happening this month, including the 2nd Annual Trucks for Tots at Shops at Park Lane, benefitting the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of Toys for Tots. United States Marines will be on hand to take toy donations and guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for a needy child. Pictures with Santa will be available in addition to live music, bounce houses and vendors for holiday shopping.
KwanzaaFest is happening in the Automobile Building at Fair Park this year. Today and tomorrow expect free admission, live entertainment, children's activities, holiday market vendors, health screenings and more.
The 21st Annual Christmas/Kwanzaa Concert, presented by The Black Academy of Arts and Letters, premiers tonight at the Naomi Bruton Main Stage. Choirs of Kimball and Lincoln High School, along with the Texas College choir, Umphrey Lee Elementary School and Townview High School band perform hymns, spirituals and classical music.
The Dallas Winter Warmer, from noon to 5 p.m. today, features a winter beer tasting with some of the most popular brews of the season, including stouts, porters, barley wines, barrel aged beers and more. Tickets include a 5-oz glass snifter and 12 2-oz samples.
Head to the Music Hall at Fair Park tonight or tomorrow for "Celtic Woman: Home For Christmas, The Symphony Tour," with the Dallas Pops. The all-female Irish musical ensemble will make this year's holidays unforgettable.
