Dallas Center for Photography presents Photography and Dance, an exhibition of photos made by Booker T. Washington High School dance students, during a free gallery reception Fri, July 16. Show runs Tues and Fri, 12-6pm; Sat 11am-3pm through Sat, July 31. Through a collaboration between DCP and Booker T., students explored the topic of photography and dance during a workshop where they created captivating images representing not what dance looks like to other people but what it feels like to them.
"DCP's mission is to foster creativity and expression through photography," says Peter Poulides, founder and executive director of DCP.? "This was a perfect way for us to put that mission into practice. These still images capture the movement and personal experience of dance, most using smart phones, which follows our belief that any camera in any person's hand can tell meaningful stories. That's the power of photography." Please RSVP on our website.
