Visit Dallas Encourages Travel Planning on National Plan for Vacation Day, Jan. 25
Jan. 24, 2022 – DALLAS – Tomorrow, on National Plan for Vacation Day (NPVD), Visit Dallas encourages Americans to plan their vacation days for the entire year at the start of the year. After nearly two years of pandemic stress and fatigue, NPVD is an opportunity for Americans to look ahead and make plans for getaways or vacations over the coming months.
A new study from Destination Analysts, commissioned by U.S. Travel Association, reveals that Americans who plan their paid time travel more, but one-quarter (24%) of American households don't take this simple step. And planners actually do travel more than non-planners. More than half (56%) of Americans who typically planned their time off took an overnight vacation in 2021 compared to 33% of non-planners.
"Visit Dallas is joining the U.S. Travel Association to celebrate National Plan for Vacation Day and encourage Americans to take some much-needed time off," said Craig T. Davis, President and CEO of Visit Dallas. "By committing to planning on Jan. 25, Americans can all enjoy the many benefits of taking a break while giving themselves something to look forward to. As a dynamic destination that has led the nation in safety and sanitation protocols - Dallas is a destination worth experiencing in 2022."
Data shows that nearly 70% of U.S. workers agree that their ability to take vacations is an important factor in keeping them in the workforce. In fact, paid time off is the second most important employee benefit an employer could offer after health insurance benefits. Even so, American workers left an average of more than four days, or 29% of their paid time off, on the table last year.
"Just imagine how much fun a visitor could have in Dallas with those four unused days," Davis added. "Our top priority is to welcome visitors to Dallas safely, with their health in mind. We want everyone to use the power to travel as a chance to recharge and reconnect with family and friends, as well as explore our beautiful, diverse city."
Research is clear: Planning is the key to taking time off and traveling. Visit Dallas has a collection of resources to help visitors plan the perfect getaway
