Caroline Rose Hunt Lecture Series at The Frontiers of Flight Museum
The Frontiers of Flight Museum is proud to announce the inaugural Caroline Rose Hunt Lecture Series, taking place on Wednesday, October 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. This landmark event promises an unforgettable evening of aviation excellence, inspiration, and legacy, featuring a keynote address by Lt. Col. Justin “Astro” Elliott, the former Commander and Lead Pilot of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and a prominent figure in the acclaimed Netflix documentary Air Force Elite: Thunderbirds.
The lecture series is named in honor of Caroline Rose Hunt, a Dallas icon, philanthropist, and founder of the boutique charter airline Pumpkin Air, known for its eye-catching, orange-colored planes and helicopters in the 1980s. Laurie Sands Harrison, her daughter, will share a personal tribute with guests during the event, telling the story of Pumpkin Air and honoring her mother’s enduring entrepreneurial spirit.
The highlight of the evening will be the keynote by Lt. Col. Justin “Astro” Elliott, who most recently served as Commander of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, one of the world’s most elite aerial demonstration teams. A Yale University graduate and the only person to complete the Air Force’s elite “trifecta,” the USAF Weapons School, Test Pilot School, and the Thunderbirds, Lt. Col. Elliott has logged over 3,000 flight hours, including 255 combat hours across 33 aircraft types. His personal story, from being medically disqualified as a pilot candidate due to poor eyesight to seizing a last-minute opportunity thanks to a policy change allowing laser eye surgery, is a powerful testament to perseverance, belief, and courage.
The event will take place at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field, located at 6911 Lemmon Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75209, a premier aviation and aerospace museum and a Smithsonian Affiliate dedicated to preserving the past while inspiring the next generation. Tickets are $45 and available at the Museum’s website. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, as the evening promises to be a unique opportunity to engage with national heroes, explore compelling history, and be inspired by the enduring pursuit of excellence.
