If making brunch plans with your friends and family is an annual tradition – we've got some great ideas on where to do brunch in Dallas. Switch it up this year by expanding your taste buds with a taste of Jamaican favorites, southern staples, or add some live music to the mix and go for a cultural dining experience this Easter.
1. House of Blues
The world-famous House of Blues Gospel Brunch is the perfect setting to hear live gospel music while enjoying the southern all-you-can-eat buffet, including their delicious chicken and waffles. Exhilarating performances, tender carving stations and the perfect family-friendly environment makes this brunch an event you don't want to miss. The event includes a buffet, gospel show and non-alcoholic beverages.
2. Jalisco Norte
If you're in the mood for Mexican, gather the gang and head to Jalisco Norte. The chef's crafted menu is inspired straight from his Mexican homeland, so you'll get a taste of true authenticity with everything on the menu. Brunch is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes pozole, migas and a build-your-own chilaquiles! And don't forget about the drinks – mocktails, margaritas and plenty of agave-spirited cocktails are on the menu.
3. The Island Spot
This award-winning Jamaican restaurant will not disappoint. The Island Spot, a casual and laid-back setting, offers weekend brunch serving chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, island crab cakes and other savory Jamaican dishes. Also, be sure to check out the Rum bar – the tastiest and best selection of rums are on the menu (go for the Rum flight where you can order three rums of your choice to sip on!) Brunch is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, no reservations required.
4. South Dallas Café
This South Dallas staple has been filling our hearts with amazing southern cuisine for more than 20 years. South Dallas Café serves up all your favorites cafeteria style, so you can try a little of everything to satisfy your cravings. Order your choice of chicken fried steak, baked ham, pork roast, collard greens, corn bread and an assortment of desserts. Although there isn't an official brunch menu, they offer a specialty menu every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
5. DeGolyer Restaurant at the Dallas Arboretum
Make a trip to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden for a special Easter brunch with the family. Brunch items include a crab, gruyere and avocado omelet, farmhouse French toast and bottomless mimosas. There's also a hearty kid's menu and desserts. (Brunch is served from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and reservations are required.) After brunch, let the kiddos roam around and participate in the Easter Egg-stravaganza as they create natural dyes and paint Easter eggs.
6. Fearing's
Celebrate Easter with executive chef Dean Fearing at Fearing's. Enjoy an incredible three-course menu of Texas favorites, met with Chef Dean's signature spin. Choose from herbed Alaskan king crab quiche with local greens, buffalo sausage on house made fettuccine, cornmeal-crusted trout benedict on jalapeno grits and more. (Vegetarian menus are also available for brunch.) A dessert station and activities for the whole family will be located in the tented outdoor Ocaso space, featuring an abundance of sweet treats like salted caramel chocolate eggs and a fried pecan pie station with liquid nitrogen ice cream you won't want to miss.
