For Seafood Lovers with a twist: Lovers Seafood & Market
We know it's unusual for a seafood restaurant to make a brunch list at all, let alone one for families, but you'll be pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere and Saturday brunch menu for what is otherwise known as an award-winning upscale seafood dinner spot. There's an outdoor patio, a mouth-watering menu and the wait staff are all trained to help your little ones experience a treat. Enjoy seafood specialities like shrimp migas, shrimp enchiladas and smoked salmon, or dine on The American, consisting of breakfast favorites of bacon, eggs and hash browns. Bonus: great cocktails and half priced bottles of wine are available during brunch times. Brunch is offered Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For Texas-style portions and home-style country cooking: Oddfellows
Located in the heart of the Bishop Arts District, this is a favorite for brunch among locals and out-of-towners. Known for their home-style meals and good coffee, Oddfellows is a place that caters for urban hipsters to mom and pop retirees and everyone in between. The ambience is rustic and comfy enough that you and your kids will feel at home. From Texas-style big breakfasts to Southern favorites of fried green tomatoes and powdery beignets, the kids will crave these dishes long after you've left. The only downside is they don't take reservations for brunch, so expect to wait a little for the goodness. Brunch is served all-day from 7 a.m. on Saturday, and Sunday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For a festive Tex-Mex atmosphere: Mesero
Anything breakfast taco or Tex-Mex for brunch is a must-have in Texas. Mesero offers a festive atmosphere, fresh ingredients, low price points and in-house made unlimited chips. It's an excellent choice for families looking for something more than your run-of-the-mill breakfast burrito joint. It was recently voted best Tex-Mex restaurant by USA Today, and in case you're wondering, it's worth the hype. Choose from the Meseritos (12 and under menu) for the kids and try the Huevos Mesero and Mersero scramble for those who want to add a bit of spice to their mornings. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For the All-American style traditions: Bread Winners Café
This is one of the more obvious choices for a please everyone in the family type of brunch, and so it should be, as Bread Winners has been in this business pleasing families for over 20 years. There is so much on their menu, the hardest part is choosing. Whether you're into chicken and waffles, farm-house traditional breakfast fare, or fresh bakery items, you'll find it here. Expect to wait as the city center locations are always packed, but it's worth it. Brunch is served Saturday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
