Art of the Machine V: A Community Lifesaving Art Show
The Opioid Response Coalition (TORC), founded by partner organizations Livegy and Conscience Conduit, will host “AOMV: A Community Lifesaving Art Show” on Saturday, February 28th, from 2–6 p.m. at Dallas’ Newest Art Venue, ARC Gallery. 2602 Main St. Dallas, TX, 75226
The event will celebrate significant milestones in overdose prevention, including the deployment of over 30 Narcan dispensers, a solidified college art pilot program, and the debut of two innovative, community-built “first-of-its-kind" machine models. The showcase features works by Mauro De La Tierra, whose art often explores social commentary and the human condition, and Ace Cordell, who contributed three custom metal works designed to adorn the machines. They are joined by eight UT Dallas students led by professor xtine burrough—representing the campus where Texas’ first college Naloxone vending machine was placed—as well as returning artists Kaia Bellanca, Mark Nelson and Virginia Lindsay. Additional featured works include artists Tyson Summers, Pancho Villa, Jack Daw, Bubba Flint, Olga Johnson, Parul Vhatia and prison artists Miguel and Armando.
The initiative’s data-driven strategy, informed by survey insights and community feedback, has guided the optimal placement of Narcan resources. The program’s success has attracted a growing network of collaborators, including major partner Rise Recovery, Live Nation, the UT College System and many others across the state and nation, proving the effectiveness of community-centered harm reduction.
Building on this momentum, the event will introduce two new dispenser designs. The first is a fully 3D-printable mechanical vending machine that can be produced anywhere in various materials, including glow-in-the-dark, lit and clear options. The second is a robust, laser-cut custom dispenser. Both models are designed to feature local art, reinforcing the mission to blend public health with community expression. The scholastic pilot program has also been introduced, expanding Narcan access to sororities, fraternities, and other key campus locations.
