5 Must-See DARTable Attractions in Dallas

From Monet in the morning, to feeding giraffes by lunch, you can do all this and more using DART.

Getting to the top attractions in Dallas is so much easier when you use DART. With world-class museums and attractions like the Dallas Museum of Art, Sixth Floor Museum and the Dallas Zoo, you'll have plenty of time to explore these DARTable destinations.

Sixth Floor Museum – Downtown Dallas

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is located in the former Texas School Book Depository where significant evidence of a sniper was found following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The museum presents the social and political landscape of the early 1960s, chronicles President Kennedy's assassination and its aftermath, and reflects upon his lasting impact on the country. Open seven days a week, 10 am - 6 pm, Tuesday-Sunday and 12 - 6 pm Monday.

Closest DART Rail Line / Bus Route: Any rail to West End Station, TRE, Green or Orange Line to Victory Station.

Dallas Museum of Art
 – Downtown Dallas

Located in the heart of the Dallas Arts District, the Dallas Museum of Art has a stunning collection with more than 22,000 pieces, spanning the third millennium BC to present day.  Works of art include ancient Mediterranean art, 18th-20th century European and American art and art of the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Artists on display include Georgia O'Keeffe, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, Pierre-Aguste Renoir, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, Claude Monet and more. Open six days a week, Tuesday - Sunday.

Closest DART Rail Line / Bus Route: Any rail to Pearl/Arts District Station, St. Paul Station or M-Line Trolley.

Dallas Zoo
 – South Dallas

Named one of the "20 Best Zoos" by USA Today, the Dallas Zoo is the largest zoological experience in Texas. Take a tour of the 106-acre park and visit the Giants of the Savanna Exhibit, stop by the education department, and don't forget to check out the new hippo exhibit while you're there. Open seven days a week, 9 am – 5 pm daily.

Closest DART Rail Line / Bus Route: Red line to Dallas Zoo Station or Bus Route 019 to IH-35 at Maralis.

George W. Bush Library and Museum
 – North Dallas

The George W. Bush Presidential Center is a state-of-the art facility on the campus of Southern Methodist University. The Library and Museum features both permanent and special exhibits, a precise replica of the Oval Office, beams from the World Trade Center twisted from the events of 9/11, a Texas Rose Garden, and a number of interactive exhibits. The popular Decision Points Theater enables visitors to experience the presidential decision-making process first-hand. Open seven days a week from 9 am – 5 pm Monday – Saturday, and 12 – 5 pm on Sunday.

Closest DART Rail Line / Bus Route: Ride the Red, Orange or Blue line train to Mockingbird Station. Followed by a quick ride on the mustang or Museum Express bus to the library.

Fair Park
 – South Dallas

Featuring the world's largest collection of art deco exhibit buildings, art and sculpture, Fair Park is a spectacular place to walk the grounds or get a new perspective while peddling a swan boat on the park's lagoon. On nearby Exposition and Parry avenues, across from the light rail station, a cluster of bars and restaurants lets you experience the nightlife in the area for a post-park adventure. And we can't forget about the State Fair of Texas®. It opens September 29, so this is your chance to get your fried-food on and more during its 24-consecutive day run.
