September marks the start of football season and Dallas has no shortage of games to catch every weekend. From Friday night lights to State Fair matchups and college rivalries, check out the best games happening in Dallas this fall.

1. AdvoCare Classic

The AdvoCare Classic, originally called the Cowboys Classic, was birthed in 2009 matching up two of college football's top contenders. This year's game, held at AT&T Stadium, will feature the LSU Tigers and the Miami Hurricanes – a matchup that hasn't been seen since 2005. Both teams are in the Top 25 and will definitely make this game a battle to the end!

2. Cotton Bowl Stadium Prep Showcase

Nothing quite compares to high school football in Texas. Don't miss the Cotton Bowl Stadium Prep Showcase on Sept. 7 and 8 and get ready to cheer at the four-game event showcasing eight area high school teams. Check out the schedule and teams participating here and purchase your tickets at the gate or at each participating school.

3. State Fair Classic

The State Fair of Texas has had a long tradition of hosting college football games during the run of the fair, hosting a college game nearly every year since the early 1910s. On Sept. 29, catch Prairie View A&M University v. Grambling State University, a battle between two historically black colleges (HBCU) in an epic showdown at the State Fair Classic. Be sure to tune in to the halftime show for the always entertaining battle of the bands performance.

4. Red River Showdown

See one of the biggest college football rivalries take place as the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners face off on Oct. 6 at the Cotton Bowl for the AT&T Red River Showdown. For more than 80 years, these teams have matched up at the Cotton Bowl, and the crowds are always electric, no matter who you're rooting for.

5. State Fair Showdown

Check out the newest football matchup at the State Fair on Oct. 20. The State Fair Showdown will feature Southern University v. Texas Southern University for another HBCU showdown you won't want to miss! This inaugural event will also feature a battle of the bands, Greek step show, college fair, parade and more.
