College football games are a huge part of the State Fair of Texas experience. The fair is host to not one, but three matchups you won't want to miss this fall! From long-time rivalries and HBCU classics, you'll want a front row seat to these exciting games. Your ticket to the game also grants you free admission to the fair, so it's a win-win for everyone.
State Fair Classic
See the battle between Prairie View A&M University and Grambling State University for the 96th Annual State Fair Classic! A historic matchup at Cotton Bowl Stadium since the 1980s, the game will be nothing short of entertaining with the always highly anticipated half time show featuring the Battle of the Bands. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
AT&T Red River Showdown
Known as one of the greatest college football rivalries of all time, the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners have played in Dallas since 1929. The game is always sold out way in advance (so good luck getting your hands on a ticket!) but you can still enjoy all the game day hype amongst the fans at the fair – you'll see a sea of burnt orange and crimson flooding the fairgrounds this weekend. Kickoff is at 11 a.m.
State Fair Showdown
Back for the second year, the State Fair Showdown features Southern University and Texas Southern University – two HBCUs ready to battle it out on the field. Each school's award-winning marching bands' halftime performances are reason enough to score a ticket to the game! The Battle of the Bands performance between The Ocean of Soul (of Texas Southern) and The Human Jukebox (of Southern University) will wow the crowds in an exciting show. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
