The State Fair of Texas is back through Oct. 20 and it has plenty of romantic activities to put on your agenda. If you plan on checking it out with your significant other, we have some ideas for the perfect date night at the fair.
1. Say "cheese" with Big Tex
No State Fair of Texas trip is complete without a picture with Big Tex. Show your love for one another by capturing the picture-perfect moment with the iconic cowboy. I can guarantee you if you plan it right, Big Tex will be the third wheel to your duo.
2. Go on a foodie adventure
Savor and share delectable bites that you could only get at the state fair. From Fried Oreos and funnel cake to Cajun Crab Bombs and fried truffles, the fair has several foods to try. Also check out this year's special exhibit, Casa de Chocolate, "A Sweet Indulgent Affair," which features cooking demos, classes and amazing chocolate – making it a terrific way to indulge in your sweet side.
3. Enjoy the swan boats
Head to Leonhardt Lagoon for a ride on the swan boats. The boats give a wonderful romantic atmosphere and are great way to escape the fair crowds. Plus, all the paddling is excellent for working off those extra Corny Dogs and fried foods that you shared with each other! The Swan boats are available to rent daily from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. for $10.
4. Sip Texas wines
Visit the State Fair Wine Garden and sip some of the best wines in the state. With various reds and whites to drink, as well as interactive displays and discussions from three different wineries, this is a fantastic place to cool off and spend time with your partner.
5. Explore the Midway
Venture to the Midway and get a friendly game going with each other, explore one of the many funhouses or get your adrenaline pumping on the various rides. From climbing ladders to water guns and other games, there's plenty of opportunities to woo your significant other with your skills. And those stuff animals make such a memorable and fun gift to signify your time together at the fair!
6. Take a ride on the Texas Star Ferris Wheel
Enjoy some alone time as a couple while admiring the breathtaking views of Dallas on the Texas Star Ferris Wheel. The iconic Ferris wheel is the best place to see the city and share a loving moment.
7. End the night at the Starlight Parade
Wind down at the end of the night with the Starlight Parade. Each night at 7:15 p.m., the Starlight Parade comes through the middle of the fairgrounds with festive floats, dazzling lights, music and more – offering the perfect opportunity to end the day in each other's arms.
