It is that time of year again. The time when Cowboys fans dig out their We Dem Boyz t-shirts from the back of the closet with renewed hope that this will be the year we win the Super Bowl (or at least make it to the second round of playoffs). September marks the beginning of another football season when a promising schedule lay ahead, disappointments of last year's season have faded and hopes are high that finally this will be our season.
Even if you are not an official member of #CowboysNation, you can still enjoy game days like a true fan. Just make sure to stock up on your silver and blue attire to blend into the crowd (under no circumstances do you want to stick out at a watch party wearing Eagles green or Washington maroon) then rent a room close to one of the numerous Dallas bars showing the game and get ready to scream 'Let's Go Cowboys!'.
Where to Load Up On Swag
Rally House - Old Town
You do not need to paint your face blue and silver, but at the very least you should be wearing a Cowboys star somewhere on your body. From hats to jerseys to game day bracelets, Rally House has every stitch of clothing you could possibly need to dress like a fan. The mega sports store also carries a large selection of apparel for every Dallas-area sports team. If you look hard enough you can even find a handful of Oklahoma wears as well, but we do not recommend stepping into that section.
Bullzerk - Lower Greenville
If sweating in a hot polyester jersey all afternoon isn't your idea of a good look, stop by Bullzerk in Lower Greenville to pick up a quirky Dallas Cowboys t-shirt. The whimsical screen-printing clothing shop owned by "the best freaking t-shirt loving Dallasites" sells fun Dallas-centric shirts, sweatshirts and hats. Wear the popular "Dak Is My Quarterback" shirt or the throwback shirt with a screen print of legendary coach Tom Landry on it that reads Patron Saint.
Where to Stay
Omni Dallas - Downtown Dallas
Stay in the heart of downtown Dallas at the Omni Hotel and watch the big game on a 16-foot screen. The Owners Box at Omni Dallas Hotel is a sports lover's dream with state-of-the-art equipment to watch the game, a full-service bar and snackalicious menu that includes Texas loaded fries covered in barbecued brisket, cheddar, jalapeños and onion straws. It might be better than watching the game in person.
Sheraton Dallas - Downtown Dallas
The newly renovated Draft Sports Bar & Lounge at the Sheraton Dallas is game day ready. With 25 flat-screen TVs, there is not a bad seat in the house. Snack on shareable popcorn and pimento cheese dip while sipping on local tap beer. Its location near the Fair Park and Deep Ellum ensures you will have plenty to do and see once the game is over.
Where to Watch
Katy Trail Ice House - Uptown
The German-style beer gratin with more than 50 ice-cold beers on tap, long outdoor benches and a menu full of mouth-watering burgers is always a go-to spot during sunny days. Add a Dallas Cowboys game to the mix and there might not be a better way to spend an afternoon.
Cedar Springs Tap House - Oak Lawn
Come for the Hangover Brunch served with $4 Bloody Marys or $12 crafts of mimosas and stay to watch the Cowboys. This gay-friendly sports bar in the heart of Dallas' gayborhood makes sure its numerous flat-screen TVs are tuned to America's Team each Sunday. The posh sports bar serves a long list of local beer and hard seltzer to keep your thirst quenched during the high-stress moments of the game.
Happiest Hour - Uptown
The swanky rooftop bar might not be the first place you think of when scouting out a bar to watch the game, but it should be. With a large selection of wings, burgers, nacho towers and beer, what more could you ask for? The largest patio bar in Dallas not only has stellar views of downtown, but it also serves a hamburger dedicated to the Cowboys' star quarterback. The dry-aged short rib and bisect burger D4K™ burger benefits Dak Prescott's Faith Fight Finish Foundation.
Frankie's Downtown - Downtown Dallas
USA Today called Frankie's nirvana for Texas sports fans. There is no doubt the bar will be full of white-and-blue clad patrons every Sunday at this self-proclaimed Dallas Cowboys Watching Headquarters. With $3 Cowboys Score Shots, game day specials and raffles throughout the game, Frankie's is a good time win or lose.
