Where to go in Dallas to post up for the big games!
Posted on Jan 20, 2021 By Taylor Voth
For sports fans across the country, it's the most wonderful time of the year. Football is winding down and basketball and hockey are just getting started. No matter if you prefer hoops or hockey pucks, the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars are gearing up with a jam-packed schedule to keep even the most eager of super fans satisfied for season. While game day attendance may look a little different this year, Dallas is in ample supply of barstools, booths and big screen TVs to keep you in the action all game long. Order a pint and pick a seat at any one of these sports-centric hot spots:
Hero by HG Sply Co - Victory Park
Next to the American Airlines Center, where the Dallas Mavericks and Stars play each home game, you'll find Hero by HG Sply Co, a massive bar and restaurant concept filled with plenty of screens, local beer on tap and an excellent menu. The indoor-outdoor bar area is outfitted with a 24-foot screen making sure no one misses a moment. During time-outs, intermissions and halftimes, wander through the classic arcade games and play a round or two before heading back to your seat and cheering on your team.
Katy Trail Icehouse – Uptown
Located right off the popular jogging trail that bears the same name, the Katy Trail Ice House is a Dallas staple and an excellent spot to settle in and catch a game (if you can find a seat.) Dallas' mild winter and beautiful spring days offer plenty of opportunities to frequent this Instagram-worthy outdoor space. Get there early to grab a table with perfect views of any one of the large outdoor screens and grab an ice-cold beverage before diving into one of the best burgers in Dallas or nosh on some delicious bar-b-que and catch every foul, hat trick and three-point shot from the comfort of your seat.
Stan's Blue Note – Lower Greenville
For one of the best sports bar experiences in the Dallas-area, look no further than Stan's Blue Note. While it still has a dive bar vibe, Stan's went through a significant and relatively recent renovation, giving it the facelift it needed to be a premier spot for watching all manner of professional sports. While waiting on the game to start, peruse the highly touted menu (voted Best Bar Food by D Magazine in 2019) or grab a bucket of beers and warm up with a round of darts or a game of shuffleboard.
DIBS on Victory – Victory Park
One of the new kids on the block in the Victory Park neighborhood is making waves as a hotspot for sports fans (and players) alike. Just a few blocks away from the American Airlines Center, DIBS on Victory has an upscale atmosphere with craft cocktails and a menu of 'American classics and cravings' to keep you satisfied well into overtime. Step onto the balcony and enjoy bustling views of the AAC pregame celebrations while you sip on some Giggle Water before taking your seat.
Moxie's Grill & Bar– Uptown
Owned by the proprietor of the Dallas Stars, Moxie's is a perfectly polished spot to meet for dinner, drinks and Dallas sports domination. Found inside the Crescent Hotel, this popular bar and restaurant offers a full menu, plenty of TVs and a charged atmosphere, buzzing with likeminded patrons who are there to champion their teams and cheer them on with a raised glass and plenty of high fives! Order a round of poutine for the table and imbibe on a house-made hard lemon soda for a pregame snack before enjoying the minutes tick down on the play clock and celebrating another Dallas victory!
The Owner's Box – Downtown
A local favorite, The Owner's Box located inside the Omni Dallas Hotel Downtown is the perfect spot to watch the game. With plenty of large TVs, including a 16-foot screen, game day-themed food, and signature cocktails – you're in for a good time. Snack on a round of apps like the jumbo ranch pretzel and the avocado-brisket wedges, and sip on your favorite beer or the red zone margarita while you cheer on your team.
