Celebrating Black History Month can be done in many different ways, from taking time to honor those who have made strides for African Americans in the past to celebrating the movers and shakers that are making changes right now. One simple way to show support to the culture is patronizing black-owned businesses - and Dallas has plenty to offer. Don't know where to begin? We've created an itinerary for you of places to visit in February and every month after.
GRIT Fitness
There's no better way to start your day than by working up a sweat. Whether you're following through on your fitness resolution or just getting started, Dallas' GRIT Fitness is here to whip you in shape. Founded by Brittani Rettig, GRIT Fitness offers everything from dance club cardio, to body sculpt, to slow stretch. GRIT Fitness has three locations - two in Dallas (Design District and SMU Boulevard) and one in Farmers Branch.

Pressed Roots
Getting in and out of the hair salon in a timely manner can oftentimes be a struggle. Pressed Roots, a silk blowout bar in the Trinity Groves area, is stacked with stylists specialized in working with textured hair. The luxury Pressed Roots experience comes with complimentary bubbly and the guarantee of an express appointment.

Brunchaholics
It's time to fill your belly with something good. Brunchaholics, a popular restaurant that gained national popularity with its infamous soul food burrito and is now serving up savory dishes at their Ross Avenue brick-and-mortar location. Pick up an order of delicious dishes like shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles! The restaurant is open for drive-thru on weekends only for now. The restaurant is set to fully open its doors in Spring 2022.
Bonus Option: If you're a sucker for homemade biscuits, Kessler Baking Studio is serving them up every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until sold out.
Good Cycle
If nostalgia is your style, we've got a treat for you! Good Cycle, owned by Nikayla Golatt-Barrett, is a shop offering a wide variety of vintage, designer and handmade clothing for folks looking to buy, sell or trade. Despite opening during the pandemic, the Bishop Arts District shop is bringing in a steady flow of customers looking for a piece of the past.
Bonus option: If vintage isn't your thing - check out indigo 1745, a men's and women's boutique in the Bishop Arts District that specializes in denim, luxury sportswear and more!
Shoal's in Deep Ellum
For dinner, don't skip out on an underrated gem in Deep Ellum - Shoal's Sound and Service. From the ambiance to the cocktails, to the food - which is now all vegan (and delicious) - this Elm Street wonder is the perfect place to have a low-key experience. Not sure what to order? The Paloma, Latin fried potatoes and the Cubano are fan favorites!
Bonus option: Need a nightcap? Cake Bar in Trinity Groves has a vending machine full of cake, so you can treat your sweet tooth as late as you want!
