Sink your teeth into what this year's expert judges have determined to be the best of the best among all the new fried foods to try at this year's State Fair of Texas.

VisitDallas sponsored the 13th annual Big Tex Choice Awards that took place on Sunday, and the winners are in! Check out who took home the prize for best taste and most creative, and be sure to taste all 10 finalists' new dishes at the State Fair of Texas that opens on Sept. 29.

 

Funnel Cake Bacon Queso Burger – Winner of Best Taste – Savory & Most Creative

All of your State Fair-favorite things come together in one with this tasty creation. Two funnel cakes make up the buns with a juicy burger patty, plenty of bacon and queso in the middle. The top funnel cake is dusted with powdered sugar and an extra side of cheese to complete this hearty meal.

Fernie's Fried Texas Sheet Cake

This one is definitely for the chocolate lovers out there. The sheet cake is a chocolate brownie coated in ground cocoa puffs, panko and cinnamon sugar that's fried and glazed with dark chocolate icing that's made with Dr. Pepper®. It's then topped with chopped pecans, whipped cream and a juicy strawberry.

 

Deep Fried Chicken Noodle Soup on a Stick

It's just what you think and more. The chicken noodle soup is deep fried and served on a stick, with a side of the savory broth sauce and crackers for dipping.

 

The Tamale Donut

This tamale, stuffed with slow-cooked pork carnitas, is formed in the shape of a donut and fried until crispy. Crunchy on the outside, but soft on the inside, so you'll get a mouthful of flavor with every bite, and a homemade jalapeno salsa is drizzled over top to finish it off.

Deep Fried Froot Loops®

Just when you thought your favorite childhood cereal couldn't get any better.  Froot Loops® are folded into whipped marshmallow, dipped in a creamy batter and fried to golden perfection. Wine flavored popcorn? Yes please! Get your hands on this kettle corn that's dusted with a Pinot Noir burgundy wine powder and blended with cheddar cheese flavors, making for the perfect combination to snack on during the fair.

 

Texas Fajita Fries

These "fries" are actually fried beef fajita strips, breaded and seasoned with a spicy-seasoned mix and served in a bread cone. It served with a bed of fried onions and jalapenos, a side of pico de gallo and sour cream guacamole hot sauce for a cool and spicy kick.
