Pride weekend in Dallas is around the corner! Dallas boasts a ton of great ways to celebrate Pride, including its annual Pride Festival. With one of the most LGBTQ-friendly neighborhoods in the country, there is much to do. Don't know where to start? If you're heading to town this weekend, here are five things to do to kick off Pride Month!
Dallas Pride is back on June 4 and 5 to raise awareness and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. This year's event will be held at the Fair Park Coliseum. Although this year will not feature a parade, there will be local and regional talent, music and more. If you don't feel comfortable being around a big crowd just yet, the event will also be live streamed at DallasPride.org starting at 7:30 p.m.
If you're in North Dallas, Northaven United Methodist Church will support Dallas Pride again this year with their 2nd Annual Northaven Pride Parade on June 5 at 4 p.m. After Northaven's festivities, gather for a picnic in the south parking lot (bring your chairs) to join the live stream of Dallas Pride, happening live at the Fair Park Band Shell. Decorate your cars, gather as a group and join the celebration!
On June 4, Sue Ellen's will finally reopen its doors. If you haven't heard of Sue Ellen's, this needs to be high on your list of places to visit on your next trip to Dallas. This is the oldest lesbian bar, and one of only 10 standing lesbian bars, in the country. Expect the same fun we knew before the pandemic, with a few safety measures in place!
Join the Lorenzo Hotel on June 4 for its Pride Weekend Kickoff Party! They'll be celebrating with specialty Pride cocktails, photo ops and giveaways. This event is free and will be open to the public and hotel guests. Fun fact: there's an entire suite dedicated and named after Tina Turner. Wander around the hotel and try to find all the art dedicated to her!
Head to club Elm & Pearl on Saturday, June 5, for the ultimate pride dance party presented by Crystal Queer Riot! Dance all night to music and queer activities by Angel and Don Gentry of the Sonic Soul Tribe. The event starts at 10 p.m. and is 21+.
