Practice Wellness in Dallas

August is National Wellness Month! Treat yourself to some safe and socially distanced TLC.

Posted on Aug 4, 2020 By Ashley Turner

We can all agree that 2020 has been nothing like we expected. We're trying our best to find the silver lining by continuing to highlight and support our local businesses, restaurants, and parks and trails. Take advantage of Wellness Month by doing the same! Here are a few ways to practice wellness today and every day.

Get active
Klyde Warren Park classes
Attend a free workout in the park. From yoga to boot camp to mindful meditation, there's something for everyone. Check their weekly schedule on their website here. Bring a mask and remember to social distance!

Cowboys Fit
Workout like the pros at the Cowboys Fit newest location in Downtown Dallas' AT&T Discovery District. The facility offers state-of-the-art equipment, fitness classes, cycle rooms, and a recovery lounge! They've also implemented new policies and procedures to keep you safe.

GRIT Fitness
Founded with women in mind, enjoy a range of group fitness classes every day of the week. With health and safety guidelines in place, you can sweat it out and stay safe while doing so.

Exercise your mind
Pan African Connection Bookstore, Art Gallery and Resource Center
Venture to Southern Dallas and pick up a book on race, culture or history. The bookstore also offers various programs and educational classes (currently virtual) year-round.

Dallas Public Library System
Although Dallas Public Libraries are closed for in-person services, you can take advantage of the Library To Go option to pick up a book curbside, or participate in virtual programs like summer reading plans and story time for the kiddos.

Deep Vellum Books
Head to this independent bookstore in Deep Ellum for some literary gems. The local bookstore "pays homage to the marginalized voices often left out of mainstream conversations," and supports a wide range of works from writers of color and the LGBTQ+ community.

Feed your soul (with food!)
Juice bars
Get a freshly squeezed juice at one of the many juice bars in town. A personal favorite, The GEM, uses fresh, organic ingredients to help detox, cleanse and nourish your body – and they're all delicious! Read about some of our other favorite juice bars in Dallas here.

Healthy meals
Fuel your soul with a healthy and filling meal in the city. Options like Snappy Salads offers made-to-order salads with the freshest ingredients; or try Unleavened Fresh Kitchen, which serves healthy wraps, bowls and smoothies. Check out our list of other healthy meals to enjoy!

Try Vegan
If you've ever considered trying a plant-based diet, now is the perfect time to do it! It's been proven that following a vegan lifestyle has long-term health benefits, so we challenge you to step out of your comfort zone this month and give it a go. With so many options in Dallas, it's easy to choose where to start (hint: they're all good!).
